Skills gap calculator
Two lists — what the role needs, what the person has — and the matched, missing and extra skills between them.
Matched ÷ needed
Coverage = matched skills ÷ skills the role needs. A needed skill matches when the same word appears in the person's list, ignoring case and extra spacing.
Matched: needed skills the person has. Missing: needed skills they don't. Extra: skills they listed beyond what the role needs.
Obvious duplicates merge automatically — the same skill typed twice, in different case or spacing, counts once.
Skills gaps across a whole team, not one role
The skills plan maps gaps across a team from your HRIS export and recommends courses per employee from your own catalogue.
Skills gap questions
What counts as a match?
The same skill, ignoring case, extra spaces and obvious duplicates — “Excel” and “excel” merge to one.
Can I paste from a spreadsheet column?
Yes — one skill per line, or separate them with commas.
Does “extra” mean the person is overqualified?
It means a skill they listed isn't on this role's required list. It may still be useful elsewhere.
